The cemetery of MatyldówThe cemetery of Matyldów is located south of the main street and can be reached by a small country road. The dense population of high trees and bushes distinguishes the cemetery clearly from the surrounding fields. The cemetery is heavily overgrown. In some parts fallen trees make the cemetery inaccessible. The most noticeable feature of this cemetery is it's population of old Black Poplars (Populus nigra) with unusual forms of the trunks and bizarre bark formations with impressing bosses. There are only a few grave borders and fragments of pedestals to be found. Traces on the pedestals remind of long gone iron crosses. Only one standing iron cross shows an inscription on it's heart shaped plate. Learn more about the location of the cemetery.
